Kids Programs & Events

What's new in March?

We have spots open for Middle Grade Book Club (10-13). We spend 45 minutes discussing the book and do a simple activity relating to the story. If you are interested in joining Book Club, or have any questions, please email lindsey@creswell-library.org.

Thursdays for Kids

We have four events this month for kids!

3/6 at 3:30pm -  Board Game Adventures

A flyer for "Board Game Adventures" for kids 5-11, every 1st Thursday at 3:30pm, with pixelated game graphics.

Each month, come play cooperative and competitive board games! This is the perfect time to bring some friends and make new ones. There will be plenty of new games to choose from, but you can always bring your favorites from home. Plus, we will have a D&D table (ages 8 and up). There is a limit to the number of kids who can do D&D, so kids who have signed up beforehand and are consistent will be reserved a spot.

3/13 at 3:30pm -  LEGO Club

A bright banner for a LEGO club meeting every 2nd Thursday for ages 5-12, at 3:30 pm with colorful brick background.

Join us for LEGO building awesomeness! Each child who completes a project will get to put it on display in the library until the next LEGO Club.

3/20 at 3:30pm – Full STEAM Ahead!

Colorful graphic promoting a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) event for kids aged 5-11, every third Thursday at 3:30 PM.

STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math!  We will be decorating and constructing pinwheels!

Colorful paper pinwheels attached to sticks, secured with blue tape on a wall.

2/27at 3:30pm – Melty Beads

Place your beads, make your creation, and melt them together! This event is great for kids of all ages! Check out what some of our creative kids made last time we did this event.

PreK Storytime - Thursdays at 10:00am in the Creswell Library

Join us for fun books, songs, and rhymes!! This storytime is intended for children in preschool but all kids and their families are welcome to join. We shoot for about 30 minutes of fun but sometimes we go a little long and sometimes just a tad short. Afterward, we will all do a fun craft.

Babytime   Tuesdays at 10:00am in the Creswell Library

Join us on Tuesdays for songs, fingerplays, lap bounces, scarves, egg shakers, stories, and bubbles! This storytime is 20 minutes long so we can wrap up before the littlest get too squirmy.

Middle-Grade Book Club

Middle Grade Book Club (ages 10-13) meets the first Tuesday of every month at 4pm and goes for about 45 minutes. It always includes a simple activity relating to the story.

We will meet at the library on 3/6 at 4pm to chat about "The Girl Who Drank the Moon".

Our next book is "Mexikid: A Graphic Memoir" by Pedro Martín. We will talk about this graphic novel on 4/1 (seriously!) at 4:00pm. Here is a quick blurb about this book from the publisher.

Cover of "Mexikid: A Graphic Memoir" by Pedro Martin, featuring a cartoon design with award medallions and illustrations.

Pedro Martín has grown up hearing stories about his abuelito—his legendary crime-fighting, grandfather who was once a part of the Mexican Revolution! But that doesn’t mean Pedro is excited at the news that Abuelito is coming to live with their family. After all, Pedro has 8 brothers and sisters and the house is crowded enough! Still, Pedro piles into the Winnebago with his family for a road trip to Mexico to bring Abuelito home, and what follows is the trip of a lifetime, one filled with laughs and heartache. Along the way, Pedro finally connects with his abuelito and learns what it means to grow up and find his grito.
